This is how a harp sounds in 2026. Bold, electronic, unique.
Stef Van Vynckt isn’t playing it safe, he’s shaping what classical music sounds like now.
In Forever – is composed of Nows, a solo performance for harp and live electronics, the rising star harpist invites you into a space where sound loops, shifts, echoes, and leaves traces. It's a full-body listening experience: close-up, immersive, and personal. And it’s all happening for the first time in Belgium, right here at DAS HAUS.
Inspired by poet Emily Dickinson and light artist James Turrell, Stef builds a world where sound is perception, and time doesn’t tick, it stretches, repeats, transforms. Nothing is fixed. Everything is becoming.
The night unfolds through works by some of today’s most standout composers like Christopher Cerrone (Pulitzer finalist), Alexander Schubert (tech-meets-music provocateur), Heleen Van Haegenborgh, and John Supko - all writing at the edge of what’s next. With Stef at the centre, the harp becomes not just an instrument, but a resonating body, a memory machine, a portal. Acoustic meets electronic. Old meets radically new.
He played in New York with Bang on a Can, shaped this project at MASS MoCA, and caught the attention of composers and critics alike. Now, before the rest of the world fully catches on, Stef brings his most personal work till now home - into the sofas, soft lights, and close-up vibe of DAS HAUS.
So come settle in. This is not about understanding everything — it’s about being there while it happens.
